Andesite lava is of moderate viscosity and forms thick lava flows and domes. Also know as plagioclase, pyroxene and/or hornblende (+magnetite, zircon, apatite, ilmenite, biotite, garnet). Mainly distributed in Andes (South America), North America (USA: Arizona, Cascades), Italy (Eolian Islands, Tuscany, Umbria), Kamchatka, Japan
