What is a Cone Crusher?

Cone Crushers come in a variety of shapes and sizes and operate in a multitude of ways. These variations can include multi-body or solid Upper Frames, wedged Concaves or mounted Bowl Liners to name a few options. However, the majority of Cone Crushers will utilise automated hydraulic systems for altering Closed Side Settings (CSS), in turn changing the size of the end product. 

Cone Crushers tend to be powered by either electric or diesel motors, which drive the machine via V-Belts attached to the Drive Wheel. This in turn powers the internal eccentric crushing movement of the Mantle against the Concave; via the countershaft, eccentric and cone head assemblies (depending upon the overall machine design)

What is a feed opening?

The feed opening is used to describe the area available for feeding material to the crusher; larger numbers mean larger input therefore higher end capacities.

What does the hydraulic system do?

Cone Crushers that utilise an automated hydraulic system generally have one or two sets of hydraulic rams which are used to alter the CSS via the mainframe position. The systems are generally also designed to protect the machine from damage in the event of an overload.

What is required for day-to-day running of a Cone Crusher?

Due to the nature of Cone Crusher operation, several parts have been designed to accommodate for the wear caused by the abrasive nature of the feed materials.
