Crushing is a crucial step in the process of ore beneficiation and construction material production. The choice of crushing process and equipment has an important impact on product quality, production efficiency and energy consumption.

According to the number of stages, there are two types of crushing and screening processes: one-stage and multi-stage.

One-stage process is mostly used for the use of self-mill processing plant, mostly open circuit operation. The final crushing product size is 350~0mm or 250~0mm.

Multi-stage process in the last section of the fine crushing operation usually with screening equipment to form a closed circuit.

Crushing equipment is divided into coarse crushing, medium crushing and fine crushing crushers according to the size of the crushed product.

Coarse crushing commonly used jaw crusher and gyratory crusher, drawing size, open pit mining ore for 1000 ~ 0mm, underground mining ore for 600-0mm.

Standard cone crushers are used for medium crushing. The feed size is generally 350~0mm.

For fine crushing, short-head cone crushers are commonly used, with a feed size of 75-0mm.

The crushing equipment and production of some key iron ore beneficiation plants are shown in Table 5.2-2. Currently, most of the middle crushing and fine crushing plants are replaced by HP or H-type cone crushers, which increase the crushing output and reduce the size of crushed products. Generally in 15 (12) ~ 0mm, to achieve the purpose of more crushing and less grinding, energy saving and consumption reduction.
