Construction waste is a kind of waste that exists in large quantities, but if handled properly, they can be turned into valuable resources. Not only can it save natural resources and reduce environmental pollution, but it can also achieve a win-win situation in terms of economic and environmental benefits. Crushing and reuse and remanufacturing of building materials are common methods of utilising construction waste resources.

Crushing and reusing refers to crushing concrete, bricks and tiles and other hard construction waste inside the construction waste through the crusher for use in areas such as road base foundation landfill.

These construction wastes generated from the demolition of old buildings will be turned into finely crushed aggregates through resourceful disposal, which will then be processed and produced into recycled bricks and other building materials to be used in the new buildings constructed. They are mostly used to fill in foundations, build non-load-bearing walls, or become part of the road base underneath tarmac roads. Recycled aggregates can also be dissipated in newly built parks to form rolling hills by piling them up for landscaping.

Building material remanufacturing refers to reprocessing the reusable parts of construction waste, such as producing recycled concrete, recycled bricks and other building materials from crushed concrete, bricks and tiles.

Resourceful utilisation of construction waste is the direction of construction waste treatment, but we need to overcome various difficulties and continuously promote technological innovation and policy support to achieve the goal of turning waste into treasure.
