Characteristics of mercury ores
Mercury is widely distributed in nature, and according to the industrial and technical requirements of the ore, the industrial types of mercury ores are divided into ore types according to the useful mineral components, which are mainly monomercurial, mercurial uranium, mercurial antimony, mercurial selenium, mercurial gold and mercurial polymetallic types. The main type of ore for industrial use is the mono-mercury type. Processed mercury is a liquid metal at room temperature, also known as mercury, silver-white, specific gravity 13.546, melting point -38.87 ℃, boiling point 357 ℃. It is widely used because of its special physicochemical properties.
Distribution of Mercury Ore
1. As far as the whole country is concerned, the southwestern district accounts for 56.9% of the national mercury reserves, taking the first place. Followed by 28.4 per cent in the Northwest Region, 14.4 per cent in the Central and South Region, and very few in other regions, accounting for only 0.3 per cent.
2. In terms of provinces and regions, Guizhou has more reserves, accounting for 38.3 per cent of the country's mercury reserves, followed by Shaanxi accounting for 19.8 per cent, Sichuan accounting for 15.9 per cent, Guangdong accounting for 6 per cent, Hunan accounting for 5.8 per cent, Qinghai accounting for 4.4 per cent, Gansu accounting for 3.7 per cent and Yunnan accounting for 2.7 per cent.
Mercury ore use, mercury has special physical and chemical properties, so it is widely used in chemical, electrical, instrumentation and military industry. In addition, it is also used as the coolant of atomic nuclear reactor and anti-atomic radiation material, also used for the extraction of non-ferrous metals, the extraction of gold by amalgamation method and the extraction of thallium from the soot of lead refining, as well as for the extraction of aluminium, and it also has a certain use in medicine.
The processes of mercury ore beneficiation include pre-election, re-election, flotation, re-election and flotation combined process and combined process of metallurgy and electrowinning. Hand selection is the traditional pre-election method of mercury ore, hand selection can get concentrate and throw off part of the waste rock; re-election is mainly used jigging and shaking table beneficiation, this method has a low recovery rate, rarely used alone; flotation is an effective way to recover fine embedded mercury minerals and polymetallic coexistence of ores, usually using a one-stage or two-stage milling, including rougher and multiple selections and sweeping the flotation process; re-election flotation joint process in the mercury ore beneficiation The combined process of re-election and flotation is more commonly used in mercury ore beneficiation, which uses jigger or shaking table to get high grade cinnabar concentrate, and the re-election tailings are flocated to get concentrate after regrinding.
